Paint the Future Green

Fostering the right behaviours in future generations is undoubtedly one of the most important tasks. Promoting an attitude of respect for the natural environment must be on every teacher’s to-do list. With the Ecology kit, students learn the key recycling concepts and discover many natural phenomena around them through hands-on activities. As a result, the children develop an understanding of the human impact on the environment and learn how they can make the world a better place.

What does a typical lesson look like?

The lesson scenarios are based on the typical school core curriculum. Our teaching kit is ideal for use in schools, libraries, youth centres and day care centres. The key objective here is to develop in children an attitude of respect for the natural environment and to explain the principles of sustainable development. These practical lessons develop children’s environmental awareness and sensitivity. Promote and encourage positive behaviour — simple things they can do to help protect the environment.

Some of the topics covered are waste separation, energy saving, clean transport, green cities and recycling.

One lesson lasts 45 minutes.

Sample activity: Recycling

The teacher divides the students into two groups and gives each group five empty packages and a set of stationery materials. The task is to make recycling bins from the materials that the children have brought. It’s important to use locally accepted color coding for specific waste bins. While the children build their bins, the teacher distributes recycled paper, glass, and plastic and chooses the appropriate app interface for the activity. Younger children use the simple joystick interface, and older children use the advanced programming interfaces.

Once the recycling bins are ready, children take turns to draw a color from a bag and program the robot to drive to a piece of recyclable material associated with that color. They then pick it up and place it in the appropriate recycling bin. The activity continues until all the materials on the floor have been placed in the proper bins.

Sample activity: Drawing leaves

The teacher divides the children into groups and gives each group a tree atlas. The task is to find the trees listed on the classroom board in their atlases. Everyone receives a printed worksheet to complete – they draw leaf outlines for each tree based on the illustrations in the atlas. The teacher then uses the Photon Robot to draw these leaves, running the ready-made program and letting the robot draw several leaves automatically. The children have to identify and name them all.

Shape future generations by promoting an attitude of respect for the natural environment

Environmental awareness

The exercises in this kit explain how to effectively and responsibly take care of the environment.

Good practices

The kit activities show students that simple, everyday activities can have a huge positive impact on the environment.

Putting theory into practice

Students use the acquired knowledge in everyday life, observing how it affects our planet.

Ability to express your own opinion

The majority of classes start with an open discussion. This way, students learn how to express their opinions.

Photon EDU – our dedicated app

The kit includes a dedicated Photon EDU app to facilitate the work of teachers. It allows teachers and children to control the robot and has several interfaces tailored to the age and skills of students.

  • photon-edu-app
  • photon-edu-app
  • ready-made-activities-in-photon-edu-app
  • photon-edu-app

The Photon EDU app main features:

• Access to ready-made programs that teachers can adapt to the group’s needs in a few simple steps; for example, the robot can divide students into groups or indicate a participant for your next exercise.

• Several programming interfaces allow you to work with older and younger preschoolers. You can also adapt the difficulty level of each exercise to the children’s abilities.

• Two account types – Educator and Student. Your account gives you access to all the app’s features, while the simplified Student’s account allows controlling the robot’s actions.

• Access to additional lesson scenarios and the Photon Robot Textbook.

Where to download the app?

Mobile devices

The Photon EDU app can be downloaded from the application store available on your devices, such as Google Play, App Store, Huawei AppGallery, or
